“I’m not even 50% sure” – Lewandowski remains coy on Barcelona future as MLS links emerge
Robert Lewandowski has been tipped to leave Barcelona when his contract runs out in the summer.
The Polish striker has only a few months left on his current deal, and the Catalan giants are yet to table a new proposal.
Barcelona reportedly have plans to do so , but are also exploring the market for a potential successor.
They have already added a few high-profile names to their shortlist, including Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and Bayern Munich talisman Harry Kane.
Despite the speculation surrounding Lewandowski’s future, the Poland international has made it clear that he’s not bothered about the situation.
He insists he doesn’t know where he’ll end up yet, although rumours have linked him with a move to Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire.
“I don’t know,” Lewandowski told The Athletic when asked if he wants to stay at the Camp Nou.
“Because I have to feel it. For now, I cannot tell you nothing (about what I will decide), because I’m not even 50 per cent sure which way I want to go. It’s not for this moment.”
Lewandowski will be forced to find a new home if Barcelona make a U-turn, but the Pole claims he’s under no immediate pressure to announce his next steps.
“I don’t put pressure on myself,” he said. “Probably when I was 25 or 30, that would have been different.
“With my experience and the age I am, I don’t have to decide now. I don’t have the feeling of which way I should decide. Maybe in three months is probably when I have to decide.
“But still, I don’t have any stress. I have to feel it. I have to start to feel it, then it will be easier for me when we talk about my future.”
Lewandowski has enjoyed a trophy-laden four-year spell with Barcelona so far.
He has made 180 appearances for the Blaugranas, bagging 115 goals and 23 assists, while winning two La Liga titles, three Supercopa de Espana, and the Copa del Rey.
