Leeds red card drama as referee makes embarrassing error in Crystal Palace match
Thomas Bramall seemingly forgot he had already booked Gabriel Gudmundsson during Leeds United's clash with Crystal Palace , when he showed him a second yellow without brandishing a red. The Whites defender had already found his way into the official's book 27 minutes into the clash, when he was handed a second yellow for a late challenge on Ismaila Sarr.
However, rather than instantly showing Gundmundsson a red, it appears as though Bramall had forgotten that the 26-year-old had already been cautioned.
As he walked away from the incident, Bramall was then approached by Sarr among other Palace players who reminded him that two yellows amount to a red.
After around 30 seconds or so, and as Gudmundsson was walking to return to his position, Bramall eventually showed the red card, as the Leeds player threw his hands up in dispute.
Speaking on Sky Sports ' commentary for the match, Chris Sutton and Gary Weaver couldn't quite believe what they were witnessing.
Weaver said: "Gudmundsson's on a yellow as well, isn't he?" before Sutton replied: "Gudmundsson is on a yellow, and another yellow has just been shown his way."
Sutton then added: "Well, Gabriel Gudmundsson was already on a yellow card. I think he's checking for the fourth-official on the far side, Paul Tierney.
"Gudmundsson is now shoved away by [Lukas] Nmecha. Palace are saying, 'Hasn't he already been booked?' And now the referee does show the red card."
Manchester United icon Roy Keane , meanwhile, gave his take on the incident and responded to a celebration of the red card by Palace defender Jaydee Canvot. "That's just the modern player," Keane said on Sky.
Elsewhere, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, former goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer said: "That is crazy. It looked like a yellow card, they almost went down to 10 men, and 30 seconds later, they are down to 10 men!

"You feel for him. There are emotions and frustration and I think he is a little bit unfortunate."
The sending-off came just moments after Dominic Calvert-Lewin squandered the chance to put Leeds a goal ahead from the penalty spot.
The Leeds striker dragged his attempt wide of the target despite wrong-footing Walter Benitez, as loud cheers erupted around Selhurst Park.
