Andy Robertson has said anything but improvement against Wolves will not be acceptable as Liverpool prepare for their rematch. The Reds take on their Premier League rivals in the fifth round in the FA Cup on Friday night at Molineux.
That clash is set to come just days after Arne Slot ’s side slipped to a humiliating 2-1 defeat to the Black Country outfit. Rodrigo Gomes had opened the scoring for Wolves , with Mohamed Salah equalising for Liverpool.
Andre eventually scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to secure a shock victory for Wolves. Speaking about his side’s display to BBC Sport , Robertson said: “The performance level wasn’t good enough on Tuesday night; there’s no coming away from that.
“You don’t win many games of football playing the way we did. I think we probably put intensity into the game a bit too late.

“I thought the first half kind of lacked intensity. Then the game, in the last 10 minutes, kind of turned into a basketball match.”
And while Robertson believes Wolves are a better side than their position in the league would suggest, the Scottish defender has told his teammates that a repeat performance cannot even be considered.
“We know, especially under this new manager, Wolves are competitive. It’s not Wolves that are 20th in the league,” Robertson added.
“They took three points off us, took three points off [Aston] Villa. They took a point off Arsenal recently in the league. They’re a team that are really difficult to beat at the minute.

“We need to put our full focus into that game and try and get through that, and then think about who we could get in the quarter-finals, to see if we can book a place into Wembley.
“But we know it’s a tough place to be, it always has been. We know we need to play a lot better than we did the other night to get anything out of the game.
“That’s what we have been working towards since Tuesday night, and hopefully we can go and show that on Friday night.”
Following Liverpool’s clash with Wolves, they will then turn their attention to a Champions League clash with Galatasaray on Tuesday evening, while they will then host struggling Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield next Sunday.
