Crystal Palace vs Burnley Premier League preview, team news and prediction

Fresh from snapping a nine-game winless streak in the Premier League , Crystal Palace welcome Burnley to Selhurst Park on Wednesday, aiming to secure back-to-back top-flight victories for the first time since December.
History is on the Eagles’ side in this fixture, with Palace having won each of their last three meetings against the Clarets. They will be looking to pile further misery on a Burnley side currently enduring a seven-match winless run in midweek league games.
Oliver Glasner was full of praise for the Palace fans after Sunday’s 1-0 triumph over rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, which marked the club’s first Premier League win in 10 matches since their 2-1 victory over Fulham on December 7. That result was Palace’s third win in their last four league games—all coming away from home against Wolves, Burnley, and Fulham. The Austrian manager commended the supporters for their patience and backing during the team’s two-month slump.
Looking to restore confidence at Selhurst Park, Palace now set their sights on their first home league victory since beating Brentford 2-0 at the start of November. Seven home matches have passed since that win, with four ending in defeat and three in draws, but Palace will hope to end that run by handing Burnley their 17th league loss of the season.
Palace fans have reason to be optimistic heading into Wednesday’s clash: the Eagles have won their last three games against Burnley without conceding a goal; they are unbeaten in 11 of their last 12 midweek Premier League fixtures; and they boast a nine-year unbeaten streak against teams starting the day in the bottom three, with 13 wins and six draws in that span.
Currently 13th in the table, Palace are also looking to extend their five-year unbeaten run against their second-bottom Lancashire visitors, who suffered their 16th league defeat of the campaign at the weekend. Only bottom club Wolves (19 losses) have a worse record than Burnley, whose 2-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers West Ham United has left them eight points adrift of the Hammers. With an additional three points separating Burnley from 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, Scott Parker’ s side now find themselves 11 points from safety, making their survival hopes increasingly slim.
Burnley had shown signs of life with three consecutive draws against Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur, but back-to-back defeats to Sunderland and West Ham without scoring have halted any momentum.
Their away form offers little encouragement—just five of their 15 points this season have come on the road, with only Wolves faring worse. Burnley have also conceded a joint-high 30 goals away from home and have the division’s worst away goal difference. Manager Scott Parker has yet to win in eight previous managerial visits to London, drawing three and losing five, and his side faces a daunting challenge to avoid a 10th away defeat of the season as they travel to Selhurst Park.
The bookies have a clear favourite in this match with the Eagles locked-in as the odds-on favourite ahead of this clash in the Premier League. The hosts go into this match as 8/15 favourites with William Hill while Burnley are priced at 5/1 to cause a shock at Selhurst Park as they look to find an end to their 16-game winless run in the Premier League while a draw is going for 3/1 too.
Although Crystal Palace emerged from their win over Brighton without any apparent new injuries, manager Oliver Glasner still has several players sidelined. Eddie Nketiah (thigh), Cheick Doucoure (knee), Jean-Philippe Mateta (knee), Rio Cardines, and Caleb Kporha (back) are all unavailable, while Justin Devenny’s foot injury will be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s match.
Ismaila Sarr, fresh from scoring in back-to-back league games and a recent AFCON 2025 triumph, will be aiming to find the net in three consecutive Premier League outings. Sarr, who scored twice at the Amex last season, netted his fifth league goal of the campaign on Sunday—though three of those have come away from home. The Senegal international is still seeking his first top-flight goal at Selhurst Park since September.
Evann Guessand is pushing for his first start since joining on loan from Aston Villa, but he is expected to begin on the bench, with Yeremy Pino likely to make his 21st Premier League start.
For Burnley, James Ward-Prowse could make his debut after missing out against his parent club West Ham, and may feature in some capacity at Selhurst Park. However, Scott Parker will be without Mike Tresor (ankle), Zeki Amdouni (knee), Jordan Beyer (thigh), Connor Roberts (groin), and John Cullen (knee), while Axel Tuanzebe’s Achilles problem will be monitored ahead of the game.
Zian Flemming, who has scored all five of his league goals away from home this season—accounting for 38.5% of Burnley’s 13 away league goals—will look to add to his tally. However, the Dutchman has not found the net on the road since December’s 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United, drawing blanks at Bournemouth and Sunderland since then, and will be hoping to break that drought on Wednesday.
