‘A nightmare to face’: Arteta praises 'incredible' Viktor Gyokeres amid improved Arsenal form
Mikel Arteta has hailed Viktor Gyokeres as an incredible striker amid the forward's recent form.
Gyokeres scored twice in Arsenal 's 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend to continue his improved performances in recent weeks.
The Swedish striker has now scored 15 goals in all competitions, with eight of those goals coming since the turn of the new year.
It marks a significant upturn in output after a slow start to his career at Arsenal , with no Premier League player having outscored Gyokeres this calendar year.
Arteta believes Arsenal are beginning to see the best of the 27-year-old, following a period of adaptation at the Emirates.
Arsenal take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, where Gyokeres will look to continue his goalscoring run.
Asked about Gyokeres' recent form, Arteta said at his pre-match press conference: "One thing leads to another. The performances are good, you understand the games, the performances better, the league better and your team-mates better.
"We have always known about his quality. He is an incredible striker. He just needs to understand the team and the league better. We are in the right trajectory.
"The demand he puts on himself and expectations to help his team is big. My players tell me he is a nightmare to face in training and that's always a good sign of how good a player is."
