Jurgen Klopp finally responds to growing Real Madrid rumours: ‘They haven’t called even once’
Speculation linking Jurgen Klopp with the Real Madrid job has been circulating for weeks, but the German manager has now addressed the rumours, and his response leaves little room for interpretation.
Speaking during an event in Munich, Klopp was directly asked about the ongoing reports connecting him with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Reflecting on the situation, Klopp said, “It’s fine that we’re talking about this.”
“When is a story actually news? When someone picks up a piece of paper and writes something, or when there’s some truth to it?”
To further explain how unrealistic he believes these rumours are, Klopp used humour to describe a fictional scenario involving Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
“What would the situation have to be like? Madrid calling me and saying, ‘Hey Jurgen, can you imagine that?’
“Florentino Perez on the phone, saying, ‘Jürgen, how’s it going? Are you up for it?’”
Despite the light tone, Klopp’s frustration was evident. He said that repeated speculation without substance has become tiring, especially when he is constantly expected to respond to it.
“Is it enough for some media outlet, I don’t know if it’s AI or if there are people behind it, to write any old nonsense? It bothers me.
“And then I have to keep responding constantly.”
Klopp then moved to shut down the rumours by clarifying that there has been absolutely no contact between him and Real Madrid .

“You really need to exercise some discipline here. If Real Madrid had called, it would have come out at some point. But all of this is nonsense.
“They haven’t called even once, not once. My agent is there; you can ask him. They haven’t called him either.”
He even joked about the scale of speculation, highlighting how unrealistic some reports have become.
“Imagine how long we’ve been dealing with this story. And I’m also supposed to be coaching Atletico Madrid, maybe at the same time. You really should question this a bit.”
Klopp, currently working as head of Red Bull’s football operations, also addressed his immediate future.
“I’m not thinking about that right now; fortunately, there’s no reason to.”
However, he did leave the door slightly open for a return to the dugout in the future.
“I’m pretty far along in life for my age, but as a coach, I’m not completely done.
“I haven’t reached retirement age. Who knows what the next few years will bring? But there are no plans.”
Finally, wrapping up the discussion with humour while once again dismissing the Real Madrid links, Klopp concluded,
“Sorry, Madrid. You have to call first before I can say anything.”
