Wirtz Snatches No.7 as Liverpool Unveil New Adidas Kit

Liverpool have finally unveiled their new Adidas kit - as new record signing Florian Wirtz claims Luis Diaz's No.7 shirt at Anfield.
Wirtz is one of seven new faces to arrive at Anfield during the current window. All of those new signings are set to have a fresh look, with Liverpool unveiling their new kits for the 2025/26 campaign on Friday, the first of a massive 10-year kit deal with Adidas.
And as part of the release, Liverpool have confirmed a host of new squad numbers. Wirtz, who arrived at Anfield for a club record fee earlier this summer, has claimed the No.7 shirt previously worn by Luis Diaz . The Colombian vacated the number with his big-money move to German side Bayern Munich.
Wirtz’s selection comes after he angrily denied claims he wanted to take new team-mate Alexis Mac Allister's No.10 shirt - having worn that number during his time with former side Bayer Leverkusen. He said "Who says I want the 10. I respect players. Don't believe everything what's written."
Wirtz is not the only new signing to find out his new number. His former Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong claims 30 - the same digits he wore in Germany. Meanwhile, French striker Hugo Ekitike is set to wear 22 following his £79m switch from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Former Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez has claimed Liverpool’s No.6 which has remained vacant since Thiago Alcantara’s exit. There are also some tweaks to the Reds’ goalkeeping department.
Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was signed 12 months ago but spent last season back on loan with former club Valencia, will take the No.25. Fellow goalkeepers Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi will don 28 and 41 respectively over the coming campaign.

Away from the new signings, there have also been some alterations amid players already at the club. Young defender Conor Bradley has switched from number 84 to 12, while academy star Trey Nyoni has claimed 42 having previously worn the 98 shirt.
There could yet be some more changes ahead of the new season when it comes to Liverpool’s squad numbers. They are still chasing Newcastle star Alexander Isak , who may have a decision to make over his number, while a new central defender is also on the agenda for Arne Slot ’s men.
Liverpool will get their title defence underway against Bournemouth in a fortnight’s time following a final pre-season clash vs Athletic Bilbao, as well as a Community Shield showdown with FA Cup winners Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium.
