West Ham director Daniel Kretinsky has made clear the club's resolve to keep their top talent amid mounting speculation linking Manchester United with moves for Mateus Fernandes and Jarrod Bowen . United have been mentioned as suitors for both players as the summer transfer window draws closer.

Fernandes and Bowen have both been strongly linked with departures from the London Stadium this summer following West Ham's drop into the Championship.

Consequently, United have emerged as a potential landing spot for both players should West Ham find themselves compelled to sell their star pair.

Nevertheless, Kretinsky has left no doubt that West Ham have absolutely no intention of allowing their key players to walk out the door this summer.

“We have a very credible strategy,” Kretinsky said in an interview with The Times . “We don’t need to sell the players for financial reasons.

“We are doing this to make sure we are promoted back to the Premier League immediately. That is our only goal.

“Key players are waiting for us. They want to see there is a real chance of keeping the squad together.

“What matters is funding, strategy and consistency. We have spoken to all of them. They need to see that our project is real and serious. Promotion is our only goal.”

Fernandes has emerged as a target for United this summer as they seek to bolster their midfield ranks ahead of the new campaign.

Reports have suggested that West Ham value Fernandes at approximately £80million following their relegation from the Premier League, with indications that United have moved ahead of Arsenal in the pursuit of the midfielder.

Bowen's future at West Ham has also remained unclear following the club's relegation, with United, Newcastle and Liverpool mentioned as possible destinations for the 29-year-old, who remains contracted at the London Stadium until 2030.

United have made an busy start to the summer transfer window, having already secured an agreement to bring in Atalanta star Ederson.

The Red Devils have agreed to sign Ederson for an initial £35million fee plus £3.8million in add-ons, bringing the complete package for the transfer to £38.8million.

It remains to be seen where United will turn their attention next, with another midfielder believed to be on the shopping list following Casemiro's departure on a free transfer.
