Vinicius: ‘I’m only thinking about Real Madrid and staying there for a long time’

Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. has issued a clear statement on his future amid speculations about his contract situation at the club.

The 25-year-old Brazilian superstar’s current deal runs out in 2027, meaning he will enter the final year of his contract this summer.

Amidst this, Vinicius, currently on international duty with Brazil, has come out and made it clear that the only thought on his mind is to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu for many more years.

“I’m only thinking about Real Madrid and staying there for a long time,” Vinicius affirmed, as quoted by MARCA .

Despite talks being held between the two parties, an agreement over a new contract has not been reached as of yet. Things only deteriorated earlier in the season when Vinicius had problems with former manager Xabi Alonso.

But, with Alvaro Arbeloa now in charge, things have taken a turn for the positive, and the possibility of a new contract for the winger is gaining weight once again.

Vinicius is close to being back to his best form, having been critical in Real Madrid’s recent run of form. And with the club keen on intent on securing his future and the player also on board, an agreement might not be far away.

Meanwhile, during the press conference, Vinicius also discussed the training methods of former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is now the Brazil manager.

“The coach always talks to the players. He asks us about the position we want to play, how we prefer to defend, but the final decision is his. This conversation is important for us because we always learn from him,” he said.

“We hope that his ideas are assimilated as soon as possible and put into practice on the field.”

On his role as the central figure of this Brazil team, Vinicius elaborated: “I imagine everyone wants me to be one of the key players. I’m ready for all the challenges in my career. I’ve already played in a World Cup and I don’t want to lose again.

“I’ve been working hard at home; I don’t want to get injured. There’s Raphinha, Joao Pedro. The young players coming up, Endrick, Estevao. We’re all ready. We can also decide a match with a set piece. That’s how you win a World Cup.”

Continuing, he added: “I don’t pay much attention to what people say. I know my job and my dedication to the World Cup; it’s where all players want to be.

“As for my current form, I always try to give my best, scoring goals and providing assists. I’m in my best moment right now. Everything I do at Real Madrid, I hope I can also do here with the national team.”

Brazil will face off against France in a friendly this month, meaning Vinicius could face his Real Madrid teammates Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni.

“This game will be very important for us. They are a great team, and so are my Real Madrid teammates. It will be a very open game. It will be a good test for us,” he said.
