Barcelona teammate shows class with Gavi gesture in win over Sevilla

Barcelona star Ronald Araújo showed his support for returning teammate Gavi courtesy of a classy gesture on Sunday.

This came after the midfielder marked his long-awaited comeback to competitive action.

Barcelona were back on the pitch a short time ago, welcoming Sevilla to the Spotify Camp Nou for a La Liga clash.

When all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops emerged on the right side of a dominant 5-2 result.

And yet, as alluded to above, it was another development which proved the highlight of a fine day all told for the Blaugrana.

Gavi of course spent the last six months condemned to the sidelines, after being forced under the knife to repair a knee issue back in September.

The 21-year-old spent recent weeks ramping up his recovery, before taking his place on the bench at St. James’ Park in midweek.

Then, on Sunday, the moment which all of a Barcelona persuasion had long been awaiting was finally forthcoming.

Late in the action at the Spotify Camp Nou, Gavi was introduced to proceedings for just his 3rd appearance of the season.

Recognising the significance of the moment, Ronald Araújo , acting as captain, responded to the switch by immediately passing the armband to his young teammate, as showcased below:
