Thomas Partey will deny two fresh allegations of rape, a court heard on Friday morning.
The former Arsenal midfielder was absent from the dock for a first hearing into two new counts of rape brought to him by the Crown Prosecution Service last month, dating back to December 2020.
At Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday, the 32-year-old was not present as Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram dealt with the preliminary stages of his case.
The Ghanaian had been excused from the hearing, as his lawyer Emma Fenn indicated that he intends to plead not guilty to both charges.
Partey was charged last year with five counts of rape against two women, and sexual assault against a third alleged victim - following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
He has already entered pleas of not guilty to those allegations, which date between 2021 and 2022. He will face trial at Southwark Crown Court over those charges in November.
The court heard on Friday that the two fresh allegations emerged after the first set of charges had came to light.

Arabella MacDonald, prosecuting, told the court: "Mr Partey faces two further charges of rape dating back to December 2020.
“The complainant came forward after news of Mr Partey’s other matters were widely publicised.”
The two new charges, involving a fourth alleged victim, were sent to the crown court for a hearing on April 10.
In those charges, the Villarreal player is accused of twice raping a woman in London on a day in December 2020.
The football player, who previously lived in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 in a £45million transfer. He subsequently left the club last June.
Partey was released on bail on Friday, with a condition that he does not contact the alleged victim. He is next expected to appear in April for his next hearing.
