Roberto De Zerbi has revealed his ambition to build his "dream" Tottenham side this summer as the club looks to put its relegation struggles firmly behind them. The north London outfit secured their top-flight survival with a 1-0 victory over Everton last Sunday, a result that simultaneously condemned West Ham to Championship football next season.

The Italian boss claimed three wins from his opening seven matches at the helm, with Spurs now setting their sights on a return to the at least the top half of the table.

De Zerbi wasted no time in outlining his rebuilding plans following the win against the Toffees, declaring that a core group of 12 players would remain while significant "change" was required across the squad this summer.

He said: "From tonight, we have to start to organise and to build a new team. I think we have now to change too many players. We have 10, 11, 12 players good enough to stay. Good enough. Like players. Especially like people. And then we have to complete the squad with the first level of players."

He added: "My target is to start the pre-season with the team I have in my dream." Overhauling their misfiring attack would appear to be the most pressing concern amongst the necessary changes at Spurs.

The forward trio of Richarlison, Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani mustered a combined total of just 15 league goals throughout the entire season. One player De Zerbi is said to be pursuing is Manchester City winger Savinho, according to the Daily Mail .

The Brazilian was the subject of approaches from Spurs last summer , but Pep Guardiola retained him at the Etihad Stadium after being unable to secure a suitable replacement. The 22-year-old managed just one league goal this season but could provide Spurs with fresh impetus on the right flank given the fitness problems affecting Dejan Kulusevski and Mohammed Kudus.

Savinho was prepared to make the switch to north London last year and may still harbour interest in the move considering his limited playing time at City. City are said to be demanding £60million for the attacker - twice what they paid Girona for his signature in 2024 - and it remains unclear whether Spurs will stump up the substantial fee despite the glimpses of quality he's displayed during his time in Manchester.

Another potential attacking addition could be Crysencio Summerville. The West Ham star endured his second Premier League relegation - having previously gone down with Leeds in 2023 - but enjoyed a prolific spell in front of goal earlier in the campaign, netting in four consecutive league matches.

According to Voetbal International , De Zerbi is eager to bring in the Dutchman, who Gazetta dello Sport claim carries a £35m valuation. The 24-year-old's pace, dribbling prowess and composure in front of goal would give Spurs an attacking threat out wide they've desperately missed this season.

The arrivals of Savinho and Summerville will undoubtedly inject fresh life into Spurs' wide options, and with James Maddison restored to full fitness, the 29-year-old will be looking to reclaim his creative role after being sidelined for virtually the entire season through injury.

Yet the number nine position continues to pose a significant headache for De Zerbi, with Dominic Solanke mustering just three league goals this season in an injury-ravaged campaign.

Richarlison finished the season as the club's leading scorer with 12 goals across all competitions, but with only one year remaining on his deal, AS reported that the Brazilian is poised to depart. Following four years at the club, his potential exit would leave a considerable void in the attacking third.

Without European football to entice prospective signings, Spurs' options for new forwards will be more limited, but they could enter the running to sign AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez. According to reports in Mexico, via Sport Witness , the 25-year-old is receptive to leaving Italy after failing to score in 16 league appearances.

The Mexico international is an untested prospect in terms of English football, but given his current valuation of £15m, as per transfermarkt , he could represent a shrewd acquisition by De Zerbi as cover for Solanke.
