The reasons Chelsea have “made contact” with Andoni Iraola ahead of other manager options

Sources all over are reporting that Chelsea have made contact with Andoni Iraola – and the reasons for that are pretty obvious.

There is more and more chatter coming out about Chelsea’s push for Andoni Iraola.

It makes sense that he’s the first name to come under the microscope. He is Premier League experienced, he’s young and a rising talent, he’s also able to speak to clubs given his contract with Bournemouth is up in the summer.

The Daily Mail say that he’s on the list with Marco Silva and Eddie Howe, also Premier League experienced but still locked into their current jobs.

This is going to be a very long chase, with some candidates not even available to speak to until July when the World Cup is finished. So don’t think that just because we’re speaking to Iraola first it means he’s the front runner.

According to this report, Crystal Palace are really keen on Iraola too, and it will be interesting to see if they’re able to pressure us into making an early decision by getting really serious with him.

Trevoh Chalobah was asked about the stinging criticism of Chelsea from their erstwhile manager a week ago, and dealt with it in the only way you could really expect.

Chalobah also spoke about the dressing room feeling after Liam Rosenior was sacked – you can imagine it’s been pretty low.
