The highest-scoring summer signings across Europe's top five leagues

There's always hope that a summer signing can hit the ground running and the names on this list have certainly achieved that.

We've ranked the five summer signings across Europe's top five leagues with the most goals in all competitions this season.

Lyon brought in Pavel Sulc from Viktoria Plzen last summer for an initial fee of just €7.5m. The Czech striker arrived in Ligue 1 on the back of consecutive seasons with 20+ goals for his former side and has wasted little time in finding his feet in France.

Sulc has scored eight times from just nine starts in Ligue 1 , averaging a league goal every 111 minutes. He's added three further strikes in Europe and cup competition for a healthy record of 11 for the campaign.

Eintracht Frankfurt required a goalscorer last summer, after losing Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike in consecutive transfer windows. In came Jonathan Burkardt from Mainz after a 17-goal season in the Bundesliga last term.

He scored eight times in eight Bundesliga starts before being ruled out by a calf injury, and added three more in the Champions League. Frankfurt need him back fit and firing.

Strasbourg snapped up Joaquin Panichelli from Alaves, suitably impressed by a prolific Segunda División season on loan at Mirandes.

The 23-year-old has taken the step to top-tier football in his stride, scoring 10 times in Ligue 1 and twice more in all competitions. Panichelli is the second-highest scorer in Ligue 1 , while his form earned the Argentine an international debut last autumn. A World Cup place is a genuine target.

More than £400m was spent on new signings by Liverpool in last summer's window, with the Reds twice breaking the British transfer record.

It's been Hugo Ekitike who has been the standout signing of their spree, scoring 12 goals and producing a catalogue of quality moments.

The Frenchman scored on his Premier League debut and has continued to be Arne Slot's most reliable attacking outlet. His form has been important, given Alexander Isak's issues and Mohamed Salah's slump in form.

The leading scorer among last summer's signings is Luis Diaz , one of the players who made way for Liverpool 's record-breaking spend.

Diaz was sold to Bayern Munich for a reported €75m fee and his impact has been immediate and outstanding.

The Colombian has formed part of a tantalising frontline alongside Harry Kane and Michael Olise , for a Bayern Munich team who are unbeaten in the Bundesliga .
