Should he decide to do so, there will be a number of top European clubs forming an orderly queue to try and secure his signature – Manchester United being one.

Indeed, the Reds have been linked with Leao in recent days as they prepare for yet another major summer overhaul.

While midfield will take priority in INEOS’ plans, attacking depth will be necessary if United are to be playing Champions League football next season.
