Sergio Aguero has urged Julian Alvarez to join Barcelona this summer despite interest from Arsenal .
Alvarez, 26, left Manchester City to join Atletico Madrid two years in a £81million move to the Wanda Metropolitano.
The Argentina international has helped fire Atletico to the semi-finals of the Champions League where they will meet the Gunners but doubts over his long-term future at the club have emerged this season.
Arsenal are weighing up a move for the World Cup winner with sporting director Andrea Berta directly involved in the move that took Alvarez to Atletico 18 months ago.
While the Gunners spent big on Viktor Gyokeres last summer, their frontline has looked unconvincing during the title run-in and still some way short of the quality of their European rivals.
Barcelona are also interested in signing Alvarez as they search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
The Catalan giants are huge admirers of the player but with an offer in the excess of €100million (£86m) needed to even tempt Atletico into doing business, their financial position could leave a deal out of their reach.

Alvarez will have a big decision to make on his future at the end of the season.
Aguero, who made the move from Manchester City to Barcelona, describes his fellow Argentine as a ‘complete’ player and believes a move to the Camp Nou would be ‘perfect’ for him.
‘Julian would be a good signing for any team today,’ Aguero told Stake .

‘For Barca obviously everything depends on whether he feels comfortable. There is the player side and the club side. If things go well he’ll be a champion of the Champions League one day.
