Max Dowman message sums up Arsenal feelings as John Terry and Rio Ferdinand react

Arsenal's top young talent Max Dowman has taken to social media to express his joy at netting his first Premier League goal, and he's been inundated with messages of congratulations. The 16-year-old clinched a vital three points for Arsenal in their quest to lift the Premier League trophy this season.

Dowman sprinted virtually the full length of the pitch to make it 2-0 against Everton . The goal made the teenager the youngest ever Premier League goalscorer .

His goal came after Viktor Gyokeres had put Arsenal ahead in the 89th minute. The victory, coupled with Man City's 1-1 stalemate against West Ham later that day, saw the Gunners stretch their lead at the summit of the Premier League to nine points.

In the aftermath of the match, Dowman posted photos of his goal celebrations on his Instagram account, captioning them: "A night I'll never forget."

Among those commenting was ex-Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale , who said: "Super max" alongside a red heart emoji.

Former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand commented: "Levels" accompanied by a graph emoji. Another former England star, John Terry , also commented with a clapping and football emoji.

Ex-Gunner Reiss Nelson responded with a red heart emoji. The fellow academy product experienced a similar moment in 2023 , when he scored a last-minute winner against Bournemouth .

Another former Arsenal man in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain , posted a hand and fire emoji. Young shot-stopper Tommy Setford responded with three red heart emojis.

Dowman came onto the pitch as a 75th-minute substitute against Everton, taking the place of Martin Zubimendi. Discussing his choice to bring on a teenager at such a pivotal juncture, Mikel Arteta revealed: "Probably in my head I had a gut feeling.

"Yesterday he was training in the last few days and I had a gut feeling that it was a moment for him. Probably because he doesn't seem to be faced by the occasion or the moment or the context or the opponent.

"He just plays so naturally. He makes decisions to make things happen and what he delivered was incredible."
