Rashford to Barcelona: United make outrageous Casado demand

Ruben Amorim’s arrival marked the end of Marcus Rashford’s time at Manchester United and the beginning of a new chapter for him at Barcelona.

Now that the Red Devils have reverted to a back four, they are lacking a pacey wide player who can stretch the opposition defence. With Rashford unlikely to return to his boyhood club, United have been compelled to outline plans to find his replacement.

Interestingly, the Englishman’s permanent move to Barcelona could help the club replace another high-profile star at Old Trafford.

It has been widely reported that Barcelona are keen to keep Marcus Rashford at Camp Nou beyond the current campaign, as the Manchester United loanee has managed to win over Hansi Flick.

Despite limited starts, Rashford has been directly involved in 23 goals across all competitions for Barcelona, who have a purchase option worth €30 million.

However, the La Liga giants’ ongoing financial crisis is proving to be a stumbling block. Their initial plan was to convince United to lower their initial asking price.

The Premier League giants are refusing to offer any discount to their Spanish counterparts. However, they are allegedly open to considering a swap deal in their bid to replace Casemiro .

According to a report in Spain, as relayed by Football365 , United have “asked” for Marc Casado in exchange for Rashford.

United have “no intention of lowering the price” and have instead “proposed an alternative” with the club “willing to consider a reduction in the total cost of the transfer, but only if a player of interest to them is included in the negotiations.”

That player appears to be Casado. The Spanish defensive midfielder is known for his ball retention and intensity out of possession.

It is added that the “formula that has been put on the table is Casado plus around €10m” and it is now down to Barcelona to “decide whether to accept the exchange.”

Casado has a release clause of €100m. As such, the idea of acquiring the highly-rated Spaniard plus cash in exchange for Rashford may seem very tempting to some.

However, Casado, who has yet to cement his place in Barcelona’s starting lineup, does not appear to be ready to fill the giant void that will be left by the departure of Casemiro.
