The EFL Cup final is set for Sunday afternoon, as Arsenal and Manchester City face off at Wembley Stadium, competing for the season’s first major trophy.
Sky Bet are offering new customers enhanced odds of 50/1 for a goal to be scored in Sunday’s high-profile EFL Cup final. Arsenal enter Sunday’s Carabao Cup final as favourites, thanks to their impressive recent form.
Mikel Arteta’s side arrive at Wembley having won six of their last seven matches in all competitions, including a 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen—who had lost just once in 14 games—to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the third consecutive season.
Domestically, the Gunners have won their last five matches, including four straight Premier League victories, a run that has seen them open up a nine-point lead at the top of the table, although they have played one more game than their closest rivals. The north London club are still in the hunt for a historic quadruple, leading the league by nine points in pursuit of their first title in 22 years, and are favourites to win both the Champions League and FA Cup, in addition to Sunday’s final.
However, Arsenal have not enjoyed much recent success in the EFL Cup, last winning the competition in 1993, and they have not lifted a major trophy (excluding the Community Shield) since their FA Cup triumph six years ago.
Manchester City enter Sunday’s final low on confidence, having won just one of their last five matches and losing two of their last three. Pep Guardiola’s side were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid after a 5-1 aggregate defeat, and have dropped points in their last two Premier League games against relegation-threatened teams.
With their title hopes fading and the Champions League out of reach, Sunday’s final may be their best shot at silverware this season, especially with a tough FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool ahead.
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last six meetings with City, though three of the last four have ended in draws—raising the possibility of extra time or penalties on Sunday.
