Rayan Cherki was ordered to remove Hugo Ekitike ’s Liverpool shirt on the Manchester City bench during their FA Cup tie on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola ’s side ran out 4-0 winners against Liverpool, with Erling Haaland scoring a hat-trick while Antoine Semenyo also found the net in the second half.

Mohamed Salah also saw his second-half penalty saved by James Trafford, while Liverpool supporters were heading for the exit at the Etihad Stadium even before the hour mark.

Cherki, meanwhile, had another impressive game for City before he was substituted in the 71st minute.

The midfielder somehow managed to swap his shirt with his France teammate Hugo Ekitike before the final whistle.

After taking his place on the bench, Cherki removed his own City shirt and then started to put on Ekitike’s jersey.

However, someone sat behind Cherki had a word and the £30.45 million midfielder quickly took off Ekitike’s shirt.

Cherki also faced criticism during the Carabao Cup final when he started doing kick-ups during the 2-0 win against Arsenal at Wembley.
