Girona boss Michel has admitted that he is ‘ready’ to take the next step in his managerial career amid links with Manchester City . The Spaniard has been linked with a move to the Etihad in the future as Pep Guardiola ’s potential replacement.

A move would be relatively easy to complete, with Girona falling under the City Football Group banner. City chiefs are already planning for the departure of current boss Guardiola, with reports suggesting he could potentially leave this summer, despite still having a year left on his deal.

Asked about his future, Michel claimed he is now open to a move, potentially to the Premier League . Speaking to La Otra Grada, via Estadio Deportivo, he said: "I am ready, I consider myself ready to coach any team.

“I don’t know if they [at Man City] see it the same way. Obviously, it's not the same environment, but I have the ability to adapt, and I want to try.”

Michel, 50, has been in charge of Girona since 2021 and has overseen 211 matches. He has led the side to promotion and an impressive third-placed finish in La Liga in 2023/24.

Meanwhile, Guardiola has hinted on a few occasions that he could leave City in the immediate future. Speaking earlier this month, he said: “I will miss not going to Camp Nou, I’ll miss Bayern Munich – hopefully we can go through and go there – and I will miss that, when I stop and retire.

“I will miss these nights because they are so special. I’ll miss Selhurst Park as well, I love it. Premier League, these stadiums. Champions League I will miss – but Fulham , Crystal Palace , Goodison Park – these stadiums are one of the reasons I adore England, I adore the Premier League, for these kind of- FA Cup ! Against League One (teams). I like a lot! But one day, it will be over, right?”

Guardiola has also confirmed that he will step back from management once his spell at the Etihad comes to a close.

"I know that after this stage with City I'm going to stop, that's for sure, it's decided, more than decided," he said. “I don't know how long I'll stop for, a year, two years, three years, five, ten, fifteen, I don't know. But I'm going to stop after this stage with City, because I need to stop and focus on myself, on my body, on...

“In Catalan, they say badar. Badar, badar, badar... I want to do this, simply stop and watch the cows go by when the train goes by. My grandfather used to say, you look at me like cows watch the train go by. Well, that's it, you have to stop and watch it go by."
