Chance seized: Jackson fights for his Bayern future

Nicolas Jackson suddenly took center stage in FC Bayern’s 4-1 home win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. The striker replaced the injured Harry Kane in the starting eleven and used his chance to promote himself. The attacker put in a committed performance, scoring a goal and converting a penalty – and received praise from coach Vincent Kompany afterwards

For a long time, Jackson only played a minor role for the German record champions, which made his performance against Gladbach all the more important, as the attacker was allowed to start for the first time in a long time

Jackson showed great commitment right from the start and was always looking for a direct finish. However, it was also clear that the 24-year-old was determined to score himself. On several occasions, he opted for his own finish, even though teammates were in a better position

Nevertheless, the striker was able to make his mark and, in addition to his goal, he also scored a penalty, making a decisive contribution to Munich’s clear home win

Coach Vincent Kompany was pleased with his attacker’s performance after the game and praised his attitude. „He played very well. I’m pleased for Jacko, but it’s nothing special. It’s what he’s always done,“ explained the Bayern coach after the match

Kompany also emphasized that Jackson regularly shows similar performances in training. „That’s how he trains. Today he showed it, hopefully again soon. Good for him, good for Bayern .“

At the same time, the Belgian was annoyed by the recent rumours surrounding the striker’s possible departure: „The boy didn’t play badly, he didn’t do anything wrong. He trained really well, his behavior towards his teammates was great,“ Kompany clarified

He also pointed out that Jackson had recently won the Africa Cup with Senegal. Nevertheless, individual players are always singled out publicly. „Last year, Serge Gnabry or Kingsley Coman were often the subject of discussion. Now it’s Nicolas Jackson ,“ explained the Bayern coach

Despite the strong performance, Jackson’s future at FC Bayern remains uncertain. The attacker is currently only on loan from Chelsea FC

The Munich club are said to have an option to buy him for around €65 million, but this sum is considered very high for a backup striker behind Harry Kane

Jackson is still under contract in London until 2033 and could become an issue on the transfer market again in the summer. However, his performance against Gladbach showed that he is still an interesting option for Bayern , at least in sporting terms – especially in the decisive phase of the season, when coach Kompany may have to rotate more.
