Former Man United star training with Crystal Palace U21s as Europa League winner looks to relaunch career with a new club

Former Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah is training with Crystal Palace in an effort to maintain fitness as he looks for a new club.

The 28-year-old, who made 30 senior appearances for Manchester United and earned three caps for the Netherlands, is a free agent and has been working with Palace's U21 squad.

He has been without a club since leaving Bayer Leverkusen in 2024 but has returned to Palace, where he spent a year on loan from United in 2017-18.

He joined Fulham on loan the next season but returned to United after suffering a knee injury, and eventually moved to Germany from Old Trafford in 2021.

While at Leverkusen, Fosu-Mensah, who can play across the back four or in midfield, played a part in Xabi Alonso's Bundesliga-winning side of 2024. He also won the Europa League with United in 2017.

Meanwhile, United duo Benjamin Sesko has pulled out of the Slovenia squad and Bryan Mbeumo has pulled out of international duty with Cameroon but are both expected to be fit to face Leeds in United's next game on April 13.

Forward Sesko has been managing an issue for the last few weeks, according to the club, and Mbeumo came off in the second half of the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Friday.
