Manchester United could be without key personnel at the back when they take on Newcastle United tonight.
Michael Carrick ’s side have hauled themselves into third place in the Premier League after coming from behind to beat Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Luke Shaw continued his run of starting every Premier League match this season but was forced off after just 24 minutes with Noussair Mazraoui onto replace him.
Harry Maguire was also withdrawn later on, replaced by Ayden Heaven.
Carrick later confirmed both defenders were struggling with illness , hopeful the pair would be available for the trip to Tyneside tonight.
Carrick has stuck with a settled starting XI since taking the reins, naming the same back four and midfield for his first five games in charge.
But recent issues have forced changes with Lisandro Martinez sitting out of the games against Everton and Palace. The Argentina international is also set to miss out tonight.

It means Carrick could be without three members of his first choice back line.
Leny Yoro has stepped into replace Martinez while Heaven will surely be called upon again if Martinez is not deemed fit enough.
Benjamin Sesko was finally rewarded with a starting role against Palace after his heroics off the bench, repaying that faith with his ninth goal of the season.
Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt remain sidelined with no real timeline on their returns in place. Patrick Dorgu is continuing his recovery from a hamstring issue and hopes to return to action in April.
Amad Diallo was bright after coming off the bench to replace Sesko on Sunday but another goal for the Slovenian will surely merit another start.
Much will depend on whether Shaw and Maguire are passed fit with Mazraoui and Heaven ready to step in if called upon
