Mohamed Salah has fallen short of matching Jurgen Klopp 's vow as he prepares to draw the curtain on his nine‑year spell at Liverpool at the end of the season. The Egyptian posted a video on his social media accounts on Tuesday to inform Reds supporters of his decision to leave.
Liverpool released an official statement confirming that Salah and the club had reached an agreement to part ways once the current campaign concludes. Although Salah has been open with supporters about his future, he has not yet ruled out the possibility of joining another Premier League side.
The 33‑year‑old previously spent two years at Chelsea between 2014 and 2016, before moving to Anfield from Roma the following year. Having cemented his status as a club legend, any move to a domestic rival would undoubtedly cause a stir among Liverpool fans.
That was the first thing Klopp did when he announced he would step down as Liverpool manager. "If you ask me, 'Will you ever work as a manager again?' I would say now, 'No'," Klopp admitted at the time.
"I don't know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation. What I know definitely – I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool, 100 per cent. That’s not possible.

"My love for this club, my respect for the people is too big. I couldn't. I couldn’t for a second think about it.
"There's no chance. This is part of my life, we are part of the family, we feel home here. There’s no chance to do that."
