Barcelona boss gives extremely positive injury on Marcus Rashford

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has issued a positive update on Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford , amidst his fitness struggles over the past few weeks.

Rashford has enjoyed a dramatic upturn in form and fortunes since he parted ways with United last summer and sealed a season-long loan switch to the Blaugrana.

He was exiled from the team under Ruben Amorim and found himself in the infamous bomb squad. Though there were several suitors keen to sign him, he made his desire to join Barcelona clear and ultimately got his move.

The England international has scored 10 goals and 13 assists from 38 matches in all competitions for the Catalan giants. Barcelona retain the option of making his stay a permanent one for £26m. All parties are keen to see this option exercised, although sporting director Deco recently indicated that several factors need to align first.

The Carrington academy graduate has endured a stop-start year. Since January, he has managed only six appearances, failing to score or assist.

He has played just 79 minutes over Barcelona’s last four La Liga games.

Ahead of the side’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, Flick revealed that Rashford is now “100 per cent” fit and ready to go.

Flick told reporters when asked about Rashford’s lack of playing time, “Marcus has had some problems in the past days.”

“But now he’s at 100% and he is an option for Sunday [against Rayo Vallecano].”

On Rashford’s future, Flick remarked, “I need all my players between now and the end of the season; we don’t know what will happen after.”

He added, “There is time. There is also a World Cup this year. I believe in my players. Rashford and [fellow loanee Joao] Cancelo both add quality.”

“We will speak at the end of the season and see. Now is not the moment to say: ‘I want this player or I don’t want this player.’ Anything can happen.”

Rashford’s contract with United runs until 2028.
