Manchester United ‘to prioritise’ Andrey Santos, Vasco eye solidarity windfall

Vasco could bank an unexpected windfall if Chelsea sell Andrey Santos , with Manchester United prioritising the midfielder for 2026/27. TEAMtalk reports that United have made him a key target and that Chelsea value him at 20 million pounds.

Under Fifa’s solidarity mechanism, Vasco are entitled to 2.5% of any international transfer fee as his training club. On a 20 million pound deal, that would be about R$ 7 million, with the valuation equating to roughly R$ 280 million.

Santos broke through at São Januário in 2021 and impressed in 2022, scoring eight goals in 36 games to help secure promotion to Série A.

This season he has looked more settled in the Premier League, featuring in 34 matches with one goal and four assists, and starting six of Chelsea’s last seven fixtures.

He previously worked with Chelsea’s current head coach during a loan at Strasbourg in France, a relationship that has aided his minutes this year, though the club will listen to offers that meet their price.

United are treating a holding midfielder as an urgent need and consider the Brazilian among leading options, alongside compatriot Bruno Guimarães of Newcastle and Brazil. For Vasco, president Pedrinho’s regime could deploy any windfall quickly to fund reinforcements requested by coach Renato Gaúcho and bolster the squad for a heavy domestic schedule.
