It’s been a successful weekend for Manchester United with new interim manager Michael Carrick looking to build on the win over Manchester City . The new boss’s first game in charge couldn’t have gone much better with a 2-0 win at Old Trafford .
Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu gave United a comfortable win. Eyes now turn to their next Premier League fixture, when they take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
As well as preparing the team for that game, Carrick may also have an eye on the current transfer window. Clubs have just a couple more weeks to do their mid-season business.
United are yet to have any new faces arrive at the club, but continue to be linked with potential incomings and outgoings. With that in mind, here is a look at the latest rumours doing the rounds at Old Trafford.
United are watching Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes as their search for midfielders continues, according to reports. CaughtOffside claims that the club have tracked the player since the summer with scouting reports positive.
It is, however, said that cost will be a decisive factor in any move, making a January exit from Wolves difficult. United are not alone in their interest with Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Crystal Palace all considering the midfielder, while Liverpool are said to have decided against pressing ahead with a move.

It’s suggested that a loan with an obligation to buy would be the most realistic option during the current window, with a permanent deal more likely if he moves in the summer.

United have been linked with an interest in Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, a move which would see the player reunited with his former manager Carrick. TEAMtalk report that Carrick is a huge admirer of the player, with United keen to add to their midfield options.
If they do make a move, then they are likely to come up against strong resistance from the Championship club. The team currently sit in second place in the table and won’t want to derail a promotion bid with the sale of one of their main players.
It is said that Boro have placed a club record £30 million valuation on the midfielder. It is added that the club are desperate not to sell and are not expecting anyone to meet their valuation. Tottenham and Everton have also been credited with an interest.
Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
