Man Utd news: Ruben Amorim decision speaks volumes as Kobbie Mainoo is singled out

Manchester United have another tough game on the horizon as they welcome Tottenham to Old Trafford on Saturday. The Red Devils ended the winter transfer window with little fanfare, allowing several fringe players to go out on loan as they kept their main squad intact.
Michael Carrick has been a breath of fresh air on his return to the club, winning all three games so far. Tough matches against local rivals Manchester City and old foes Arsenal both yielded three points, while a last-minute winner against Fulham ensured the interim boss remains with a 100% record.
Next up it's Tottenham at home as Thomas Frank's side look to build on their own impressive result against City last weekend. A win over Spurs will see United bolster their top four credentials even further and potentially close the gap on Aston Villa , who play later in the day against Bournemouth .
With not long to go until the weekend action, which actually begins on Friday with Nottingham Forest's visit to Leeds United, Mirror Football rounds up the latest news coming out of the Theatre of Dreams.
Ruben Amorim has indirectly given Carrick the ultimate show of respect by holding off on explaining his side of his United journey until the end of the season. Following a 1-1 draw with Leeds United in January, the Portuguese manager was sacked after 14 months in charge.
Carrick was placed in interim charge with many clamouring for Amorim's side of the story immediately after his departure. However, a source has now told the Daily Mail that the 41-year-old is planning to wait until the summer to speak out.

The report also suggests that this decision was made so as to not disrupt the rest of Carrick's campaign with the club. The temporary boss will likely appreciate this sentiment as he aims to carry on a stellar run of form with United.

Fulham's Alex Iwobi has singled out Kobbie Mainoo after injuring his hand during a fierce battle on Sunday. The midfielder has had a resurgence of form under Carrick, starting all three Premier League games and covering more ground than anyone else.
This is in stark contrast to his time with Amorim, who kept him on the bench for the majority of his tenure. And it seems that Iwobi is still feeling the effects of the England international from their clash last weekend.
During his recent YouTube video, the midfielder said: "Shout out Kobbie Mainoo but Kobbie man.. you absolutely finished my hand. This guy has Ghanaian strength!"

As he said this, Iwobi showed his right hand, which had his ring and little finger strapped together. It is unclear how this injury was caused, but the Fulham star's comments paint a picture that the pair battled it out in a duel that Iwobi clearly lost.
