Manchester United could already have Casemiro's ideal successor within their own ranks in the shape of Toby Collyer, if his recent display is anything to go by. The 22-year-old is currently enjoying a loan stint with Hull City in the Championship , having spent the first-half of the campaign on loan at West Brom .

The defensive midfielder made his full debut for the Tigers on Monday night against tough opposition in Coventry City . Despite Hull sitting fifth in the table, some 16 points adrift of Frank Lampard's league leaders, they managed to hold Coventry to a goalless draw at the MKM Stadium.

According to the Hull Daily Mail , Collyer produced an impressive full debut for the Tigers that evening. The publication wrote of the youngster, who they rated 8.5/10: "A first start for the on-loan Manchester United midfielder, and he started well, winning the ball early, and looking neat and tidy on the ball.

"Probably City's best player in an absorbing first period and that continued in the second. Deserved his standing ovation when he departed."

Despite already having Collyer on the books and the youngster seemingly flourishing at Championship level, it remains highly unlikely that United will look to deploy him as a long-term successor to Casemiro any time soon. This is in spite of the fact that the club wouldn't need to spend a single penny on his services, given he is already a Red Devil.

Collyer only put pen to paper on his first professional contract at Old Trafford in 2024, and is still very much at the formative stages of his footballing journey. He has also made just six Premier League appearances for United to date, and may well need further seasoning at the highest level before being handed such responsibility - particularly given the shoes he would be stepping into.

A seasoned campaigner with a glittering trophy cabinet, Casemiro has been pivotal to United's fortunes this season - contributing seven goals and two assists from 29 appearances in the Premier League, remarkable figures for a defensively-minded player.

However, the 34-year-old confirmed earlier this year that 2025/26 will be his final chapter at the club , as he sets his sights on a fresh challenge away from Greater Manchester. Consequently, the club face quite the task in filling the considerable void that Casemiro will leave behind upon his departure.

Several names have been touted for a move to Old Trafford this summer, among them Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali , Eduardo Camavinga and Cristian Romero . However, the primary target at present appears to be Elliot Anderson .

Reports indicate that the club are showing growing interest in the Nottingham Forest star, despite the Tricky Trees being expected to demand at least £100million to sanction his departure should they steer clear of relegation to the Championship.

That figure could climb even higher depending on how impressively the midfielder performs at this summer's World Cup in North America, as he is widely anticipated to feature in Thomas Tuchel's Three Lions squad given his current form and consistency.

However, United will face stiff competition in their pursuit of Anderson. It is further suggested that Manchester City are casting an eye over the 23-year-old, although their immediate attention is believed to be focused on extending Rodri's contract , which is due to expire at the end of next season.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
