Man United and Liverpool boost as Bayern cool Diomande pursuit

Manchester United and Liverpool have been handed a boost with Bayern Munich having reduced their interest in Yan Diomande .

The RB Leipzig teenager is set to be at the centre of a transfer frenzy this summer, with the Premier League giants both considering approaches.

Bayern Munich also admire Diomande, but reports from Germany suggest the Bundesliga champions have cooled their interest.

Leipzig are reportedly demanding a fee of around €100m (£86.2m) for the Ivorian, a figure Bayern believe is ‘too expensive’.

Club insider Christian Falk has stated that the Bayern board does not see the logic in paying such a high fee for a player unlikely to make their best XI immediately, given the presence of Michael Olise and Luis Diaz.

Diomande has been the breakout star of the Bundesliga season, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists in all competitions this season.

Liverpool view Diomande as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, while Manchester United are assessing successors to Marcus Rashford.
