Liverpool's turmoil continues to further plunge the reigning Premier League champions further into chaos. The Reds' latest embarrassment came in the form of their 4-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday in their FA Cup quarter-final tie.

To add insult to injury, Virgil van Dijk accused his team of "giving up" during the match with fans pointing the finger at the Dutchman, his team-mates and Arne Slot for what has been an abysmal defence of their league title.

Ahead of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain this week, Mirror Football takes a look at a verdict made on Mo Salah as well as Jamie Carragher making his stance clear on one Liverpool star.

Saturday's embarrassment at the Etihad Stadium was a poor day for every Liverpool player, especially Mo Salah . The 33-year-old not only offered very little threat on the right flank but missed his second penalty in a row with James Trafford saving his effort.

With a guaranteed nine games left for Liverpool , unless they best Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League , Salah so far seems to be going out on a whimper at the end of his legendary Anfield career.

Speaking on talkSPORT, journalist Henry Winter claimed Salah "didn't look right" when he stepped up to take the spot-kick. He said: "They're [Liverpool] running through quicksand at the moment. Mo Salah, I think, embodies that.

"I was watching on TV, and you just looked into his eyes when he was taking that penalty, and he just didn't look right. He didn't look like the confident Mo Salah of old. Good save by James Trafford. And City were terrific, but that was poor.

"Talking about fans leaving early from the boxing , I've not seen Liverpool fans walk away like that. Obviously, there were a lot of them because you get an increased allocation. But still… Arne Slot should look at that as well as his underperforming players."

Jamie Carragher has traded a barb or two with Salah in the past, most recently in December after the Egyptian's post-Leeds rant, but the Sky Sports pundit only had kind words to say in the aftermath of his announcement that he'll leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

Paying tribute to Salah's longevity and legacy at Anfield, the former Liverpool vice-captain told the Liverpool Echo : "Salah has been an exceptional player from the start; no one expected him to reach such a high level with Liverpool."
