Leeds United vs Man City Premier League preview, team news and prediction

Manchester City travel to Elland Road on Saturday aiming to close the gap at the top of the Premier League against Leeds United. The last meeting between the sides ended 3-2 to City, with Phil Foden scoring a late winner.
Leeds have recovered from a heavy defeat to Arsenal by going unbeaten in February, picking up five points from three league games and progressing in the FA Cup. However, despite often taking the lead, they have drawn eight times since December and struggled to hold onto advantages. Now 15th in the table and six points above the drop zone, Leeds face a tough challenge, having lost their last five league games against City.
City, meanwhile, have reignited their title push with recent wins over Liverpool, Fulham, and Newcastle. With a game in hand, a win over Leeds would cut Arsenal’s lead at the top to just two points. City have a strong record against newly-promoted teams, but one of their rare defeats in such matches came against Leeds in 2021.

Leeds have just one injury concern, with Noah Okafor sidelined for two to four weeks due to a hamstring issue. Gabriel Gudmundsson, who was substituted at halftime against Aston Villa because of illness, will be assessed before the match. Manager Daniel Farke is likely to stick with a five-at-the-back formation, keeping James Justin, Joe Rodon, and Patrick Struijk as the central defenders. If fit, Gudmundsson and Jayden Bogle are set to start as wing-backs. Stach, who has scored three free kicks this season (only Ian Harte has more in a single Premier League campaign for Leeds), is expected to play in an advanced midfield role alongside Brenden Aaronson. Up front, Dominic Calvert-Lewin should lead the line.
For Manchester City, Josko Gvardiol (tibial fracture) and Mateo Kovacic (ankle/heel) remain unavailable, while Jeremy Doku (calf) and Max Alleyne (knock) are both doubts and will be assessed late. In-form O’Reilly, with three goals in his last two league games, is likely to keep his place in midfield alongside Rodri and captain Bernardo Silva. Phil Foden and Rayan Cherki could come into the attack, potentially replacing Omar Marmoush or, more likely, Antoine Semenyo. Leeds-born Erling Haaland, who scored twice on his last league visit to Elland Road, is aiming to become the first away player to score more than two goals in back-to-back top-flight appearances at the stadium.
