Milos Kerkez says Liverpool executed Arne Slot ’s Galatasaray plan ‘perfectly’ as they booked their spot in the Champions League quarter finals. The Reds headed into Wednesday’s second-leg at Anfield 1-0 down following defeat in Istanbul.
But a brilliant 4-0 win saw Slot ’s side complete the turnaround and book their spot in the last eight of the competition. Giving his verdict on Liverpool 's performance against Galatasaray, Hungarian defender Kerkez claimed he and his teammates got everything spot on.
"We had lots of chances but we defended really well and didn't give much away," he said. "After that in the second half, it was also chance after chance, so we executed the plan perfect. It was a great night.
"The mentality and the energy was unbelievable from every player. We did much better things with the second balls, with the duels and with the fast attack.

"Then you get the fans going and the fans get us going. I never felt this Champions League night and it was really special for me. I'm really proud of all the boys. I'm grateful that I could feel it and experience it."
Liverpool now head into the quarter finals where they will take on reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain, but Kerkez has said no one in the dressing room is getting ahead of themselves.
"We talk about it but let's see," he added. "I think it would be special. I think just take it game by game.
"If we play like (against Galatasaray) with this mentality, with this courage and with everything, I think we're a really good team and a really tough team to beat. It would be special, wouldn't it?"

On the upcoming clash with PSG , Kerkez said: "We know they're the champions and they won it last year. A great team, but obviously we're looking forward to it, but we know we have to pick up points in the Premier League , so we're already looking forward for Brighton (on Saturday)."
The Champions League itself could potentially represent Liverpool’s best route to book a spot in the competition for next season. Heading into this weekend’s clash with Brighton, the Reds sit fifth in the Premier League table and two points behind Aston Villa .
Following the clash with the Seagulls, Liverpool will then turn their attentions to the FA Cup quarter-final showdown with Manchester City .
