Barcelona want Manchester United to extend their loan agreement with Marcus Rashford for another season, according to reports.

Rashford joined Barcelona on loan from United last summer and has impressed this season with 10 goals and 13 assists in 38 appearances so far.

Barcelona have the option to sign the 28-year-old for €30 million (£26.3m) this summer as part of their loan agreement with United.

However, the Daily Mail reports that Barcelona will ask United if they can extend Rashford’s loan for another year to run until the summer of 2027.

The report adds that Barcelona would include an obligatory buy clause worth £26m, which they will be forced to pay next year.

Speaking last weekend, Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, was asked about whether the club will make Rashford’s move permanent at the end of the season.

‘We have a clear idea regarding Rashford and we know what needed to be done for him to stay,’ Deco said.

‘But the matter is tied to financial fair play, priorities, performance, and the coach’s decision, and it’s something we haven’t done yet because it’s not the right time.’

Last week, reports in Spain claimed that Barcelona are considering a move for Chelsea winger Pedro Neto as a potential alternative to signing Rashford.
