Bradford star Antoni Sarcevic addresses Ethan Wheatley’s goalscoring struggles

Bradford City star Antoni Sarcevic has sent a message to Manchester United loanee Ethan Wheatley amidst his struggles in front of goal for the side.

Wheatley is still looking for his first goal for Bradford since joining the club on loan during the January transfer window.

He spent the first half of the season out on loan at Northampton Town, where he was a key player under Kevin Nolan, but United opted to recall him.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United viewed his spell at Northampton as a success but felt his development would be better served elsewhere.

He has made seven appearances for Bradford, including starting over the weekend as they beat Leyton Orient 2-1. Wheatley was part of an attack that also consisted of Sarcevic and Bobby Pointon.

Sarcevic scored both goals to clinch the three points for the Batams, who currently sit in fourth place in the League One Standings.

Bradford are 13 points adrift of table leaders Lincoln City and five above Stockport County in fifth position.

After the final whistle, Sarcevic spoke to reporters and backed Wheatley to eventually break his duck for the side. He also hailed other aspects of Wheatley’s game.

Sarcevic said [as quoted by The Yorkshire Post ], “Bobby’s a homegrown hero here and Ethan’s a young lad who is finding his feet in the EFL.”

“I still think Ethan is doing brilliantly for us. I know he’ll pride himself on goals but I think what he gives to us is really good.”

“The goals will come if he keeps going and Bobby’s just a pleasure to play with.”

Wheatley will be hoping it is his day on Wednesday when he and his teammates travel to Port Vale.
