Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire set for England recalls

Manchester United duo Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are set to be recalled to the England squad when Thomas Tuchel announces his squad today.

The pair are set to be rewarded with a place in the group to face Uruguay and Japan in friendly fixtures this month.

Both have been influential in Manchester United’s improved form under Michael Carrick, who has won seven of his nine games to lead the side to third in the Premier League table.

Mainoo has not been capped since September 2024, having fallen out of favour due to a lack of minutes at club level under Ruben Amorim.

The midfielder had played a key role in England’s run to the Euro 2024 final before a decline in fortunes at Old Trafford.

Maguire’s last cap came in the same fixture against Ireland. The experienced centre-back will be given a chance to impress this week as he looks to seal a World Cup place.

According to The Athletic , there’s also set to be a recall for Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall.
