It has been just over two years since Jurgen Klopp stepped down as Liverpool manager. The legendary German boss has been experiencing life beyond the touchline after choosing to bring his eight-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield to a close.

The Premier League and Champions League -winning manager revealed that he planned to take a sabbatical from management when he said his farewells. In January 2025, he began working as Red Bull's head of global football , supervising their network of clubs.

It was confirmed later that year that the 58-year-old would also be taking up a position with the German Football League (DFL) on an expert panel designed to enhance the game, alongside his commitments with Red Bull . Yet Klopp's decision to leave Liverpool has also enabled him to spend more time away from the sport.

The Reds icon has discussed his family life after previously devoting himself to football as a player and manager. Mirror Football examines Klopp's life beyond Liverpool .

Klopp and his wife Ulla have spent part of their time constructing a dream home in Mallorca after purchasing a £3.4million villa in 2022. The pair were reported to be completely renovating the 5,000sqm property and were also said to be having a home built in the German city of Wiesbaden, which would enable them to be near their family.

The German remains dedicated to his duties at Red Bull while also cherishing the healthier work-life balance his current position affords him. He told CBS Sports : "We go on holiday when we want and not when we are allowed to.

"You can organise everything like that and we have Mario Gomez, he will take over. He can go on holiday, I can go on holiday, one of us is here and is doing the job, informs the other one. The world will not change overnight just because we are a week somewhere and that's how it should be and it never was and now it is like that."

Jurgen and Ulla married in 2005 and the former Liverpool boss has detailed his wife's influence on his career choices . The German coach previously explained that a comment from Ulla prompted him to sign a contract extension with the Reds until 2026.

Klopp had been scheduled to leave Anfield in 2024 before agreeing to new terms in 2022. Although he would leave before the end of his new deal, Klopp said at the time: "The most important contract I signed in my life was the one with Ulla.

"And that's why it started again, because actually we sat at the kitchen table and Ulla said, 'I can't see us leaving in 2024.' I said, 'What?' That's how it all started and when that started I thought, 'Let's have a think.'"

Klopp headed back to the Liverpool dugout as Kenny Dalglish's assistant for the annual legends match at Anfield in March. The Reds took on Borussia Dortmund , another of the manager's former clubs. The match saw Liverpool surge into a 2-0 lead through Thiago and Jay Spearing, before Mohamed Zidan and Jan Koller drew level.

"I enjoyed every second," Klopp said after the match. "My role was definitely not to have a lot of words. I was here for the Foundation and to be part of a really special experience.

"For me, a very special experience after a while – being around, being that close, seeing all the Liverpool lads and then seeing the Dortmund lads as well because that was like 80 per cent of my players. And you don't meet very often and have them all together in one room. It's really cool."

While Klopp already juggles two jobs, the 58-year-old has confirmed he'll be taking on yet another challenge as a pundit this summer . He will be covering the World Cup for Magenta TV but teased a return to management in a social media post announcing his new role.

"Many of you have always known better. But I truly couldn't envision it for myself," Klopp said in a voiceover. "Going back to the sideline? I don't miss anything. This is what I always thought. But now it is tingling again.

"Grass underneath my feet. The heated atmosphere in the stadium. And I want to be really close again." He clarified: "Oh? No, not as a manager. I am becoming a pundit for Magenta TV at the FIFA World Cup 2026."
