'I couldn't believe what happened after chat with Liverpool star - I was completely overwhelmed'

Alex Aljoe is a name that stands out from the rest. Her ability to speak five languages - English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish - have set her apart from other sports presenters and helped her develop a name in broadcast media.
The 34-year-old began life in England and made languages her passion, studying Spanish and French in high school before moving on to Italian in university. During a year abroad while studying, the polyglot reporter began work with Real Madrid TV and started to stake a claim in the world of sports presenting.
Nowadays, Aljoe can be spotted on the likes of Amazon Prime Video and DAZN, interviewing many famous faces in every language - and even translating on the spot for viewers. In 2025, the reporter led coverage of the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup , hosting in the United States for DAZN.
She also joined ESPN’s on-air team as a presenter for the FA Cup in the States, watching on as drama unfolded across England in the domestic cup competition.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror , the talented reporter named just a few moments in her career that have stood out so far. Aljoe said: “Presenting on Spanish television live for the first time when I lived in Madrid, I was so nervous.
“Even though I could speak Spanish fluently, talking live on TV there was an entirely different prospect. I was shaking so much, but it went well. Additionally, the first live translation interview I did for Amazon Prime Video, which was with Luis Diaz after he scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.

“It was just a spontaneous idea at the time as a way to get his reaction knowing he did not speak English, and it turned into a career-defining moment for me. I was completely overwhelmed by the reaction.”
Stars like Trent Alexander-Arnold , Gabriel Magalhães and Diaz are just a few to name on the list that Aljoe has surprised with her fluency. When asked who her favourite interviewees had been, the 34-year-old said: “It is so hard to pick just one. I would say Sergio Agüero’s last interview as a Manchester City player, reflecting on his iconic goal at the end of the 2011/2012 season.
“It was my first season working for the Premier League ’s global TV channel, and it was such a special interview. Or, perhaps David Beckham – when he returned to Real Madrid’s training ground for first time since he left the club as a player.

“I had heard he was going to be there for an Adidas shoot and so I went on my own mission to find him and I did!”
Aljoe is even working closely with former Match of the Day hero Gary Lineker on The Rest is Football : LaLiga where they run down the latest coming out of the Spanish league. Highlighting their friendly relationship, she added: “Gary is brilliant to work with.
