Harry Maguire: Man United star reminds England boss of his credentials
Manchester United had numerous players on international duty on Friday night.
After returning to the Manchester United first team in the autumn, Harry Maguire has been a regular in the side.
This improved form saw him recalled to the England squad under Thomas Tuchel and reignited his hopes of making the World Cup.
He played the full 90 minutes of England’s 1-1 draw with Uruguay.
Maguire made four clearances and blocked one shot from the visitors. He failed to win his only aerial duel and only came out on top in one of his three ground duels.
The defender also made one key pass and had a passing accuracy of 94% on the night.
Kobbie Mainoo played the final 21 minutes of England’s match, replacing fellow former Carrington graduate James Garner.
He had very little involvement, completing just three passes and failing to win his only aerial duel in a disappointing effort.
Marcus Rashford has found game time hard to come by under Hansi Flick at Barcelona lately but returned to the starting line-up in an experimental England side.
He played 69 minutes and had one key pass in the match. He also completed one cross and had one effort on goal that was blocked by the Uruguayans.
Rashford completed an impressive six dribbles in the match and, amazingly, won 11 duels, something he is not particularly famous for.
The Uruguayan has been a peripheral figure at Old Trafford this season but started for his national side against England.
He played 87 minutes and completed 82% of his pass attempts .
Ugarte won both his tackles and his only aerial duel. Nonetheless, he was very disappointing in duels, winning just two out of 13.
He was involved in controversy as he seemed to receive two yellow cards, but the referee apparently changed his mind and rescinded one of the cards, meaning Uruguay, in fact, did not go down to ten men.
Noussair Mazraoui played 82 minutes of Morocco’s 1-1 draw with Ecuador in a friendly.
The full-back won all three of his tackles.
He also completed an impressive five out of his seven duels. Mazraoui was also careful on the ball, completing 88% of his passes.
