Coventry City placed their trust and financial backing in Frank Lampard to guide the club into the Premier League and he has justified that faith. The former Chelsea boss achieved promotion in his first full campaign with the Sky Blues topping the table this year after coming up short in the play-offs in 2024/25.

Lampard's hefty pay packet at the Coventry Building Society Arena looks like a steal after this season's success. He is thought to be on around £5m annually , considerably less than the £15m he was reportedly paid during less than a year in charge at Everton .

The Sky Blues boss has attracted attention from Premier League clubs, prompting questions over a new and improved deal. Even without any rise, however, he's earning more than several bosses already in the top flight .

An annual wage of £5m would place Lampard inside the top 10 when it comes to Premier League managers' pay. It's more than twice what Manchester United's interim boss Michael Carrick takes home, although the former England midfielder could well receive a substantial increase himself if appointed on a permanent basis.

Just six managers are thought to command higher wages, while Everton chief David Moyes is also reportedly pulling in £5m. Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta occupy first and second place respectively, with their ongoing title rivalry going some way to justifying those figures, while Tottenham have handed Roberto De Zerbi which they will feel is justified if he saves them from relegation.

Chelsea's next manager could also end up taking home more, though their most recent permanent boss, Liam Rosenior, was reportedly on £4m during his brief tenure. Fulham manager Marco Silva, currently earning £4m at Craven Cottage, is amongst those linked with the Stamford Bridge hot seat.

"Listen, it's worked well," City owner Doug King told The Guardian when quizzed about talks over a new deal for Lampard, whose current contract runs until 2027.

"He put himself back into the arena and everybody sort of said, 'OK, it's Frank again, let's see what happens here. He will probably near-miss it or it won't go well,' so there was quite a bit of pressure on him.

"He felt confident with his team that he could get clarity, motivation, focus, to take the club towards some form of success. Did he think we would be champions 18 months later? I don't think so. Nor did I."
