Fulham vs West Ham Premier League preview, team news and prediction

Aiming for back-to-back London derby wins at Craven Cottage, Fulham welcome West Ham United for Wednesday’s Premier League showdown.
Marco Silva’s side come into the fixture buoyed by a 2–1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, just a day after the Hammers endured a heavy 5–2 defeat at Liverpool. After starting February with three straight league losses, Fulham have rediscovered their form, stringing together three consecutive wins. Their resurgence began with an FA Cup triumph at Stoke City, followed by a second-half comeback at Sunderland, before they raced to a 2–0 halftime lead against Spurs thanks to goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi. Although Richarlison pulled one back for Tottenham in the 66th minute, it proved only a consolation.
That result lifted Fulham to ninth in the Premier League table, narrowing the gap to sixth-placed Chelsea to just five points, and marked their first league double over Spurs in 22 years. Now, Fulham have the chance to complete a Premier League season sweep of West Ham for only the second time—the first coming in 2023–24—after snatching a late winner at the London Stadium in December.
Fulham’s recent home form should inspire confidence, with five wins from their last seven matches at Craven Cottage across all competitions. They’ve netted multiple goals in five of those games, a promising sign as they prepare to face a West Ham side struggling defensively.
Indeed, only Burnley (56) have conceded more goals in the Premier League this season than West Ham’s 54, a weakness that was ruthlessly exposed at Anfield. The Hammers have been particularly vulnerable from set pieces, conceding 16 goals from such situations (excluding penalties)—level with Bournemouth. Liverpool capitalized on this frailty, scoring three times from corners in the first half, and although West Ham responded with goals from Tomas Soucek and Taty Castellanos after the break, the damage was done.
That loss snapped West Ham’s three-game unbeaten league run (W1, D2), and a four-match streak in all competitions that included an FA Cup penalty shootout win over Burton Albion. Still, there have been signs of improvement: the Hammers have collected 11 points from their last seven Premier League matches, a significant uptick compared to the previous 10, in which they failed to win.
Despite this progress, West Ham remain 18th in the table, two points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, who face a daunting trip to title-chasing Manchester City on Wednesday. A positive result for the Hammers, combined with a Forest slip, could see them climb out of the relegation zone.
However, West Ham’s record in London derbies is a cause for concern—they’ve lost seven of their eight Premier League city derbies this season (W1), with only three teams in history suffering more such defeats in a single campaign.

Fulham’s win over Tottenham came at a cost, as Harry Wilson was forced off in the second half with a twisted ankle. If he is not fit in time for Wednesday’s London derby, Samuel Chukwueze is expected to take his place on the right wing. This is the second straight match in which Fulham have suffered an injury setback, following Kevin’s foot injury against Sunderland, which will require surgery and could keep him out for several weeks.
On a more positive note, centre-back Joachim Andersen—who missed the last game due to illness—and Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic, sidelined with a hamstring problem since mid-January, could both be available for selection on Wednesday.
West Ham, meanwhile, have no fresh injury worries after their last match. January signing Pablo (calf) and backup goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski (back) are likely to remain the only absentees. Central midfielder Freddie Potts will serve the final game of his three-match suspension, so Tomas Soucek, Soungoutou Magassa, and Mateus Fernandes are expected to form the Hammers’ midfield trio once again.
