Frank Lampard believes Coventry need to be ‘ambitious’ ahead of their first Premier League season in nearly three decades. The Midlands side sealed promotion last week with a 1-1 draw with Blackburn.
Coventry still have work to do to rubber-stamp the Championship title but it appears that Lampard is already putting plans in place for next season.
He has claimed that the Sky Blues need to ensure they approach next season with ambition, not hesitation. Speaking after being crowned EFL Championship Manager of the Season , Lampard said: "There's a lot of work to do because we know the step that it will be for the football club.
"So that's something we have to work on quickly now because of where we're at, we have to be ambitious -- we're Coventry City football club.
"I know what the Premier League is and its going to be a challenge, we can enjoy the moment for the next two weeks, but of course we have to work behind the scenes to ensure we go up the right way."

Speaking about Coventry’s promotion to the Premier League, Lampard added: "I was emotional the other night [securing promotion at Blackburn] because it dawned on me in that moment what we had achieved.
"A club that I walked into 16 months ago that had gone to the depths and back up, and football is always about people and always about supporters and I'd missed it.
"You have to credit Mark Robins [previous head coach] for what he did at the club, the owner Doug King and appreciate the moment, and I'm working with a great group of players.

"When you walk into a group forget the football talent, that's obviously important but when they look after themselves, they train well, they support each other, they have a laugh, that's the gold. It's an incredible story and I'm pleased to be a part of it."
Coventry have three games of the season remaining and will no doubt be aiming to secure the Championship trophy. They welcome Portsmouth to the CBS Arena on Tuesday evening, ahead of another home game against Wrexham. The Sky Blues round off their campaign against Watford at Vicarage Road.
As it stands, the race for the second automatic promotion spot looks set to go down to the wire. Ipswich Town currently sit second ahead of Millwall on goal difference, albeit with a game in hand. Southampton are one place and a point further behind, while Middlesbrough could still snatch second before the season finishes.
Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
