Four clubs Bernardo Silva could join with Manchester City exit confirmed

Bernardo Silva’s time at Manchester City is set to end in the summer.

The 31-year-old’s contract at City will expire in July, but no negotiations have taken place between the two parties over an extension.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto , Silva is expected to leave the English club on a free transfer this summer.

With the Portugal international’s exit now almost guaranteed, we take a look at four potential destinations for him next season.

Silva started his football career with Benfica, where he rose through its academy ranks to make three senior appearances before joining Monaco.

The versatile midfielder could make an emotional return to his boyhood club, who would love to bring him back to Lisbon.

However, he is currently on enormous wages at City , and would have to take a significant pay cut to move back to Portugal.

Al-Hilal made Silva a mega-money offer in 2023, but he turned down the opportunity to continue his career in the Premier League.

Al-Hilal are unlikely to make another move, but there is said to be interest from Saudi Pro League sides Al-Ahli and Al-Qadsiah .

A new challenge in Saudi Arabia could be appealing for Silva, who can hope to earn a huge salary in the Pro League.

Lionel Messi, Son Heung-min and Thomas Muller are some of the big names who are plying their trade in the Major League Soccer (MLS).

Silva could be the next big star to join the North American league, with  Chicago Fire setting their sights on landing his services .

But it remains to be seen whether the Portuguese is ready to join the MLS, where the competitive standards are significantly lower than Europe’s top five leagues.

Silva could follow in the footsteps of his former team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, who is currently playing in the Serie A with Napoli.

Juventus are admirers of the 31-year-old’s abilities and could make an offer to sign him on a free transfer .

Although his wage demands could be a big stumbling block for a deal.
