Chelsea XI vs Wolves: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup and injury latest for Premier League

Liam Rosenior could be without nine Blues players for Molineux trip

Reece James and Pedro Neto are doubts for Chelsea ’s trip to face Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.

Both players missed the Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg defeat by Arsenal on Tuesday night after failing late fitness tests.

Blues head coach Liam Rosenior said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday that it would again be a last-minute decision with the medical staff that determines whether Chelsea captain James and Neto are passed fit to feature at Molineux.

Jamie Gittens will not be available after Rosenior revealed that the winger suffered a tear in his hamstring as he was forced off against West Ham in the first half of last weekend’s 3-2 comeback win at Stamford Bridge.

“Don’t know yet [whether James and Neto will be available to face Wolves],” Rosenior said. “We had training today [Thursday], which was a recovery day for the lads who played [against Arsenal]. We’ll check them tomorrow and make a decision then.

“Jamie is looking a little bit more long-term. He’s got a tear in his hamstring, which is a real shame.

“That’s going to be a big miss for us. It’s too early to say [how long he will be out for].”

Chelsea will remain without the injured Tosin Adarabioyo, Dario Essugo, Romeo Lavia and Levi Colwill for their game against Wolves.

But Rosenior was positive about the availability of Cole Palmer and Estevao Willian, who he said were able to play the full 90 minutes if needed.

Enzo Fernandez has barely had a rest all season and Rosenior may consider using Andrey Santos alongside Moises Caicedo and give the Argentine a break, either at Wolves or in midweek against Leeds.
