Chelsea issue Jesse Derry update after star taken to hospital with head injury

Chelsea have said that Jesse Derry is "conscious" and "talking" after the teenager was hospitalised following a sickening clash of heads in Monday's game with Nottingham Forest .

The 18-year-old was making his first ever Premier League in the Blues' 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge. But he suffered a serious looking injury on the stroke of half-time when he collided with Nottingham Forest defender, Zach Abbott .

Derry was taken away on a stretcher after receiving lengthy treatment with Sky Sports later confirming he had been taken to hospital. Chelsea have since issued a further positive update on the youngster.

"Jesse Derry has been taken to hospital as a precaution following his first-half substitution during today’s #PL game against Nottingham Forest," the club said via their X account. "Jesse is conscious, talking and undergoing precautionary checks. We wish him a speedy recovery and thank the medical staff for their swift response."
