Can Wolves be relegated from the Premier League today? Permutations for Leeds clash

Wolves have looked destined for the Premier League trapdoor for some time and their place in the Championship could be confirmed over the coming days. The Black Country side have endured a woeful campaign in 2025/26.
They have been anchored to the bottom of the table since the third week of the campaign. And while things have improved over recent weeks under Rob Edwards, they could soon be confirmed as a Championship club.
In fact, their relegation could be rubber-stamped as soon as this weekend. Wolves take on Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Defeat to Daniel Farke’s men, as well as a Tottenham victory against Brighton later in the day, would see Wolves fall into the Championship. Should Edwards’ side come away with anything from Elland Road, they may then be given a stay of execution until Monday evening when West Ham take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
As it stands, Wolves sit bottom of the table on 17 points, having won just three games all season. They started the season with Vitor Pereira in charge but the Portuguese coach was sacked in early November in favour of former Middlesbrough and Luton boss Edwards.

He managed to lead the club to their first back-to-back victories of the campaign across February and March with successes against Aston Villa and Liverpool . Asked what has led to their improvement, Edwards said: “January was important. It was. We made some, I suppose, bold decisions as a football club.
“We shortened the squad down. And everyone that remains has been part of it and everyone’s been involved, which has been good.
“Look, you always make key decisions, important decisions, on a weekly basis. But there’s a few people that have come into the team and I think they’ve really excelled, and performed really, really well.

“It’s the lads that go out there and do it, and we try and give them some structure and some ideas, and they’re the ones who go and implement it.”
Wolves have been in the Premier League since earning promotion under Nuno Espirito Santo in 2018. Since then, they have enjoyed two top-half finishes and a run to the Europa League quarter finals. They narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship last season with a 16th-placed finish.
Burnley are set to follow Wolves back into the second tier, with the Clarets sitting just three points above the Wanderers. Coventry City are the first team to confirm they are going the other way - ending their long wait to go back to the top flight.
