Burnley vs Brighotn & Hove Albion Premier League preview, team news and prediction

Brighton & Hove Albion will look to strengthen their push for European qualification when they visit Turf Moor to face relegation-threatened Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. The Seagulls are aiming to complete a first-ever Premier League double over the Clarets after beating them 2-0 at the Amex in January.
Burnley come into the weekend with just one win from their last 22 league matches, and the window to engineer a great escape is rapidly closing. After a 3-1 defeat at Fulham in their final game before the international break, Scott Parker insisted his 19th-placed side will be “fully committed” for their remaining seven fixtures as they attempt to cut a 10-point gap to safety.
Another loss would be Burnley’s 20th of the league campaign — a figure that would rank as their joint third-highest in a Premier League season — and only bottom club Wolves have lost more games after 31 matches this term. Turf Moor has offered little respite: only Tottenham have collected fewer home points than Burnley’s 11, and the Clarets are the division’s second-lowest home scorers with 15 goals.
They have also struggled in recent home meetings with Brighton, winning just one of the last nine at Turf Moor — a 1-0 victory in December 2018 under Sean Dyche.
Brighton, by contrast, have turned their form around after managing only one win in a 13-game spell between early December and mid-February. Fabian Hurzeler’s side have now won four of their last five, beating Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland before edging reigning champions Liverpool 2-1 at the Amex prior to the break.
That run has lifted the Seagulls to 10th, with European qualification still within reach: they sit three points behind seventh-placed Brentford and six behind fifth-placed Liverpool. Brighton’s pressing has been a major weapon this season, ranking first for high turnovers (264) and second for pressed sequences (386), while only Spurs have been forced into more high turnovers than Burnley.
Brighton are chasing a third straight Premier League away win for the first time since January 2023. Their overall away record this season stands at four wins from 15, but they are unbeaten in their last four visits to Burnley.

Burnley are missing Josh Cullen and Zeki Amdouni (both knee), Hannibal Mejbri (thigh), Jordan Beyer (hamstring), Connor Roberts (Achilles) and Mike Tresor (ankle), although Axel Tuanzebe could return in some capacity. With Josh Laurent suspended after picking up too many yellow cards, Joe Worrall could come back in to join Maxime Esteve and Bashir Humphreys in a back three, with Kyle Walker and Quilindschy Hartman expected to operate as wing-backs.
Scott Parker’s midfield/attack balance will determine the support around top scorer Zian Flemming (eight league goals), but Jaidon Anthony and Luke Foster are among the options to provide a threat in the final third.
Brighton, meanwhile, remain without Adam Webster and Stefanos Tzimas due to long-term knee injuries, and captain Lewis Dunk is suspended for an accumulation of bookings. Olivier Boscagli is set to partner Jan Paul van Hecke at centre-back, while Yasin Ayari and Carlos Baleba are pushing for midfield minutes as Fabian Hurzeler weighs up changes involving James Milner, Jack Hinshelwood and Pascal Gross.
