Manchester United remain without options at the back when they take on Bournemouth in Premier League action tonight.

Michael Carrick ’s sit three points clear in third place ahead of Aston Villa , Liverpool and Chelsea and can take a huge step towards Champions League qualification in what is their final game before the international break.

Lisandro Martinez has missed United’s last five games due to a calf problem and will miss out again tonight although Carrick is confident the Argentina international will be available again after the international break.

Matthijs de Ligt is no closer to a return, however.

The Dutchman has not played since the victory over Crystal Palace at the end of November with a problematic back injury completely derailing his season.

United have offered no real timeline for his return with suggestions on Thursday he may have no further role to play this season.

Patrick Dorgu has not played since his thrilling afternoon at the Emirates in January with a hamstring injury ruling him out that day.

It had been hoped he might be available after the international break but Carrick suggested this week he is ‘a bit further down the line’ with no date on his return just yet.

Leny Yoro is expected to keep his place in the side alongside Harry Maguire in the absence of Martinez.

Benjamin Sesko returned to the bench last time out against Aston Villa but still popped up with a goal. He should be in line for another start.
