Arsenal striker sold for £4m sees price sky rocket after Champions League goals

Former Arsenal frontman Mika Biereth continues to remind his old club of what they let slip away following his cut-price exit. So much so the Denmark international is now valued at least four times the amount the Gunners received for him back in 2024.

Barely two years ago, Biereth was still on the books in north London, fighting to establish himself under Mikel Arteta . Fast forward to today and the striker is turning heads at Monaco, having just enjoyed the most prolific scoring season of his career to date.

Having come through Fulham's academy , Biereth first arrived at Arsenal in 2021 and spent three years with the Gunners. He was eventually offloaded to Austrian side Sturm Graz for £4million in 2024, but the Gunners may have pulled the trigger a touch too soon in moving him on.

The forward racked up 23 goals and nine assists in 47 appearances for Sturm Graz (initially on loan). That's before he was sold again in January 2025, when Monaco completed a deal potentially worth £12m to land his signature.

In less than 12 months, the England-born talent had tripled his transfer value. And according to his most recent Transfermarkt valuation, the 23-year-old's stock shows no signs of slowing, with the striker now believed to be worth closer to £16m.

Biereth has utterly transformed his career trajectory and future possibilities in just a couple of seasons. Yet the increased spotlight doesn't seem to have diminished the striker's down-to-earth nature one bit.

"When you're in the Arsenal first team and walking around London, a lot of people are too starstruck to approach the players," he told Flashscore in 2024. "There are few fans who have the courage to do that.

"In Graz, everyone just loves football and the first team and they come up to you all the time. I have no problem at all with fans coming up to me."

Biereth has endured a dip in goalscoring form this campaign, finding the net only five times across 36 appearances in all competitions for Monaco. This has led to a significant reduction in starting opportunities for Les Monegasques since the turn of the year.

As it happens, another former Arsenal player has shouldered Monaco's goalscoring responsibilities in his place. And United States striker Folarin Balogun could prove the club's saviour after scoring in each of his previous five league matches.

Few would have anticipated just how rapidly Biereth would climb the European football ladder after leaving Arsenal. And he might yet feature in Denmark's World Cup efforts if they succeed in their play-off final against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

Arsenal, meanwhile, seem satisfied with Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz as their attacking options up front. And Arteta is unlikely to lose much sleep over Biereth's exit as he sets his sights on finishing the campaign with a treble of trophies.
